Reinhild Frech-Emmelmann is EU Organic Farmer of the year 2024!

What a joy!

In March of this year, we decided to nominate Reinhild Frech-Emmelmann and her heart-and-soul project, ReinSaat, for the EU Organic Awards in the category "Best Female Organic Farmer in the EU." The vibrant daily activities at ReinSaat, the spring festival with its young plant sale, and the challenges of summer made us almost forget about our submission. Therefore, the news from Brussels, which reached us amidst the summer harvest, was a perfect midsummer surprise for Reinhild and the entire ReinSaat team. From the eight categories of the EU Organic Awards, three finalists were selected in each, and Reinhild was among the 24 nominees in her category. What a joy!

Recognition of a Lifetime’s Work

On September 23, 2024, the official award ceremony for the EU Organic Awards 2024 took place in Brussels as part of EU Organic Day. A jury consisting of representatives from the European Commission, the European Parliament, IFOAM Organics Europe, and other organisations celebrated the winners among the 24 nominated projects in a festive setting. The anticipation was high, and the joy was immense when Reinhild Frech-Emmelmann and her heart-and-soul project, ReinSaat, were announced as the winner in the “Best Female Organic Farmer in the EU” category. Reinhild with ReinSaat as “Best Female Organic Farmer in the EU”! What a tremendous honour and what a joy for the entire ReinSaat family!

On the Right Path

We are immensely proud of Reinhild, the entire ReinSaat team, and the broader ReinSaat family—including our customers, suppliers, home gardeners, lenders, and more—for being recognised as a winner of the EU Organic Award 2024 among the “Best in Europe” for ecological and sustainable practices. This award is yet another affirmation of the path we have followed with ReinSaat for the past 25 years—steadfast and uncompromising. The EU Organic Awards

The EU Organic Awards were established in 2022 as part of the European Action Plan for Organic Farming to showcase and celebrate outstanding projects along the entire value chain—from farmers and restaurants to SMEs and regions. The awards invite participation from all actors and institutions whose innovative and exemplary projects contribute to improving access to and affordability of organic products across the EU.
